New Start
Last week I spent about a whole day refactoring my blog…, and the older one is archived at CN-Site.
So…, here it is! A brand-new theme for the blog, fully in English.
In this post, I will talk about why I refactored my blog, and what’s the next step…
1. Why bother redoing the blog from scratch?
(1) Practicing English
Well, first of all. The reason why I tried to archive my old blog and start a new one is pretty simple:
- Practicing English
TBN, I started learning English when I was 2 years old. Until now, it is almost 28 years(Although not continuously, I've been doing it on and off!). But actually, after years of studying, I'm still not making too much progress. And recently I found it hard to read long enough passages(maybe we could say dyslexia)!
So I decided to redo my blog and try to use pure English to write down some thoughts.
(2) Milestone
Another reason why I want to redo the blog is that I want to set a milestone for myself and stand for a new start for the blog.
Once you visit the old CN-Site, you will notice that I’ve been writing posts for about 7 years. But due to the LLM, in the past year I seldom updated the blog. Not just because my life got busier (life is always busy indeed!), but in this LLM era, I found that there isn't much knowledge worth enough to write down(sounds like an excuse, but it’s true)!
But ironically, in this DARK LLM era, if you do not output that much, just depending on the answer of AI, for most of the time, the knowledge is just seized by the LLM itself, not you.
So the second reason that I'm redoing the blog is:
- Keep handwriting some content in the AI era!
Sounds crazy, but I could just use OpenAI or Claude to generate this post within seconds!
But this makes no sense, since I would ONLY get an AI-generated post instead of learning something!
According to my personal experience, forced practice can be a good way to grasp some skills!
Treat AI as a utility rather than a substitute for yourself!
(3) Develop a good habit
Persistence is a great quality, especially in the AI era, when most people have gotten used to fast-paced products and fast-paced living!
Therefore, I hope to build this habit by jotting down my thoughts.
2. The applications I recommended
I used plenty of applications while I was writing the post.
(1) Typora
I write most of my posts in Typora, of course!
(2) Grammarly
A grammar & spelling check application.
Since Grammarly needs a subscription, here is an open-source substitute: Harper
(3) TranslatorX
An open-source translator developed entirely by me: TranslatorX
3. The future of AI
This can be a big topic, and I don't want to discuss AI in great detail in this article!
In recent years, Artificial Intelligence has been a game-changing technology, 100%! It has affected almost every industry!
Here’s some breaking news:
- Layoffs: Microsoft offers buyouts to around 60,000 employees to contain costs
- Research: The Exponential Time Hypothesis is False
- ……
As a pessimist, I don’t expect the world to get better amid the AI tornado!
And in my opinion, the ONLY way to thrive in this era is to work well with AI (how ironic!).
So AI will be the main topic of future posts on this blog!
4. What will I do(Esp. in this blog)?
Firstly, English, of course! The future posts in this blog will be written in English ONLY. If you want to read the Chinese version, feel free to visit: CN-Site.
Secondly, the posts will focus more on HPC, LLM, and distributed systems(I know you hate AI, but it’s the future!). The posts will still talk about the technical aspects, but go deeper and be more concentrated.
Last but not least, some research or thoughts will be addressed in this blog, in order to bring together some of my scattered thoughts!
Thank you so much for reading this far. Please look forward to my upcoming articles!
